I am very excited for all of what is about to happen! 30 Day Full-Voice Challenge (to find out more about it go to: http://www.broadwaydancecenter.com/workshops/sponsored_workshops/full_voice/index.shtml ) is exactly what I need, it's literally a godsend! I will participate in it because it covers everything I wanted to do during my stay in New York City and also "forces" me to do it in one month which for me is going to be the best start I could possibly hope for! I am a hard worker but I do need a push... and now never mind the prizes! Completing the challenge, for me as a professional musician won't be a problem (but now, once I've said it... Murphy's Law! Oh no, haha!) but again, it's so much more than winning prizes. I mean "shit happens" and I might not be eligible for a prize but doing this challenge with about 70 other people is a big thing for me and I know I will benefit from it anyway. Everyone who takes part in this amazing project (Kurt- you're genius!) is a winner already!
Maybe a bit of info on me, my name is Michael and I am 23 years old. I was born and raised in Poland where I graduated from Music (and Performing Arts) Elementary and then Music High School on clarinet and piano. I had a 4 year episode with a guitar but that was too long time ago to mention! I have always been singing in classical choirs and voice ensembles. At the age of 19 I have decided to take it to a next, "solo" level and started taking private voice classes at Silesian Academy of Music. Soon after that I have taken entrance exams to Mozarteum University in Salzburg (on the same page with NYC's Julliard), I have been accepted and began Voice Education Program. And then, before I got my degree, another huge part of my life took over- I am also an Irish dancer and it's always been a huge dream of mine to dance in a professional show. And that dream came true when I was in Salzburg. I was offered a place in "Michael Flatley's Lord of the Dance" and I dropped out from Mozarteum (I do wish to continue one day though!). "I have sailed the world and seen its wonders" with the company, haha, I have visited around 25 countries with them, danced in the biggest and most famous venues this world has to offer with Michael Flatley as a lead dancer, appeared on 2 of their DVDs, even made it into a cinema with "Lord of the Dance in 3D", performed at closed concerts for 2 royal families- for Arabian royal family in Abu Dhabi and Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla at Buckingham Palace... and list of things I've done with them is endless! I have few months off touring right now and I have decided to take care of my vocal career again (as I won't be an Irish dancer forever!) and learn some more dancing, doing an International Student Visa Program at Broadway Dance Center. It is super hard but I love it! My concentration is ballet split with theater and I can feel the progress with every class that I am taking! It's a road of sweat and tears though.
I am classically trained musician/singer so the whole "musical theater" at all its aspects is not exactly new to me but definitely different to what I'm used to! I enjoy it so much though and I'm pretty sure that's precisely where I see myself in a few years! Or sooner maybe? I do need some more training however, so I think all those big productions will still have to wait for me a bit, haha! But as far as I am concerned Broadway isn't going anywhere so I have some more time!
Ok, It's almost 1st of May already! I say, BRING IT ON!!!!!
